Spanish flashcards work because memory is a most often a retrieval problem not a formation problem. You need to drill and practice pulling out Spanish words from the deep recesses of you brain in a flash.
This is why are Spanish flash cards effective
Spanish flash cards are effective because memory is usually an issue of remembering rather than forming the memory. This means, most of the time when you see something or hear something a memory is formed in your brain, neural connections are made. However, to retrieve it it takes practice. That is testing and retesting with Spanish flashcards.
The way the brain works is either a memory is formed or it’s not. Have you ever been in a situation where you could not recall a word, then later when you remember it you say aha, that is right.

Use Spanish flashcards for remembering and forming memories
The that means the memory was actually in your brain it just need to be retrieved. Where have you ever been in a place then latter returned, even if it was ten years latter?
You remember that place because your brain retrieves that memory from your brain when you return there.
Do you understand? Your brain does not dispose of information once the memory forms, rather more likely it gets lost in the jungle of connections.
Does this mean most of us have almost a photographic memory? I don’t like to use words like that because it’s all over the web, along with with accelerated learning, photographic memory, genius etc.
However it is true your brain can remember almost everything it has experienced in your life, specially if there’s some emotional attachment. Therefore in order to have a great memory what you need to do is retrieved that information when needed and that’s the real trick.
In order to train your brain to retrieve information is you need to test and retest your brain. This is why Spanish flash cards help your brain retrieve information it strengthens the pathways and processes which will allow you to speak Spanish.
Just try some Hispanic language flashcards before you go to Mexico or Spain and you will be better off than taking going to school, or some phrases book, which I have never learned anything from. I learn maybe one or two phrases at most. With Spanish language flashcards on the other hand, it actually teaches you. You can confirm what you have learned and see your progress. There is no doubt.
Good pile and bad pile for Spanish flashcards
I create a pile for good and bad flashcards when I learn. I think the best cards are large and have images on them. This makes it easier for your brain to learn.
Small text based flash cards do not work well. If you have interest please go to my Spanish flashcard page.
